Yes, the Stripers are still here! Albany area has
been doing very well and those fish need to come
back this way. The mouth of the Rondout Creek has been a very
good spot for the boaters and River Road and
Kingston Point have been very good the shore fishermen. Bait available: bloodworms and frozen
herring.
The creek has lots of herring for those that jig for them

The stripers are still here! Stripers
are being boated in the 30 and 40 lb. range. It took a while for
those stripers to show up this season. The water temperature has
been bouncing from 58 to 62.
The Rondout Creek and River are clearing of debris, but the water
chestnuts are growing rapidly.
Trollers are doing just as well as the baiters. Sandworms have
been the prime bait this week.
Large schools have been heading north all this week.

Sorry for not posting, not enough time
in the day.
The past several days have been tough on the river, stripers not
biting, wind blowing, colder temperatures
and the striper runs being difficult to find. But, today was a
better day for some.
We weighed in a 46 lb. 6 of striper that was caught on live herring.
Two other stripers were weighed in; 19 lbs. and 21 lbs. Don't
give up hope, rumours going around that the season is ending,
don't listen to rumours. We have several more weeks of striped
bass running this river.
Get out there and go fishing, from shore or boat. You do not need
an expensive rod n' reel set up.
Go to Wall-Mart, borrow a set up. Iced herring are $1.50 ear.;
you can get 3-4 pieces of bait out of 1 herring. Sand and Bloods
are more expensive. Sandworms are the bait of choice right now.
Live herring and bloods following. Lures; Hot Steel, Purplescent;
Brown trout, various pinks, yellows.
Trollers! Bring up those weights, you do not need to knock out
the stripers!
Bait available - Live herring, iced
herring, frozen herring, bloodworms. Out of Sandworms until Friday
afternoon.
*Sportsmanship means everything
on this River.

Today was a great day on the river.
A 52 lb. striper was weighed in at Norrie Pt.
We understand it was caught on the vessel "Why Knot",
trolling. Monday was also great for
Jason Molini & Travis Nissan, as they weighed in a 50lb. 9
oz striper at Certified Marine Service,
that they also boated while trolling. The lure was a F18 Hot Steel.
We also have been
told they were in a 14' boat. It seems the small boater does well
with large stripers, but please do
not run out and get yourself a small boat. The river is no place
for small boats.
We have reports of large schools with large stripers in our area,
water depth of 15' - 20'.
The water temperature today was 57 degrees and the river is still
clear of debris.
Live bait is still the prime source for using on stripers. Monday
& Tuesday were slow days
on the river, not many fishermen out on the river, but the shore
fishermen are
still spending a lot of time along the banks. With the economy
we have seen an increase of shore fishermen.
Some of the guys have left their boats on shore or sold them,
but they still are fishing.
The river banks have been extremely crowded with guys taking time
out from work, families enjoying
the river and teaching their kids to fish, couples learning how
to fish, old timers remembering past seasons,
where you would net large numbers of herring for furtilizer, smoking
and for use as bait.
We have enjoyed meeting new faces, from the well to-do to the
people who fish for food.
With so many on unemployment, the striped bass can be a great
dinner.
The weather reports look to be improving, so maybe the heavy rain
will hold off.
Bait available: Live herring; for those by boat, iced and frozen herring,
bloodworms & sandworms.
Because of lack
of entrants for the 2-Day Striped Bass Tournament, it has been
cancelled.
All those that have sent in money will receive a refund.
The 10th Annual Kids
Tournament will
not be cancelled, so please get you kids into this tournament.
We could use some
sponsors to help out with the cost!

Okay, all you fishermen and women the
Big fish have arrived , with Jolly Rogers' catch of a 30 plus
Striper caught and released.
This with reports from Capt. Nick Lange of Larger fish also. Nick
last evening on a personal outing caught and
released fish up into the 20 pound range. The shore fishermen
also have done well the past few days,
the baits have been varied, the fish are not too choosy. They
have been hitting anything you toss them.
The thing is to find them. One day one location is hot, the next
it can be cold.
But as the season winds on, it's only going to get better. Also
the trollers have reported catching
MANY schoolie Bass with reports of up to 30 fish. And on the Creek
(Rondout) the Herring are now taking jigging baits.

Today was a great day on the river
and shores of the Hudson and Rondout. Water temperature - 57 degrees.
Large schools of herring and stripers have been noted throughout
the River and Rondout.
Shore fishermen are doing well with sands and bloods. The boater
has been doing well with chunk herring and lures.
rolling has begun and this past weekend many stripers were boated.
It has been nice to hear that fishermen are keeping some for dinner,
but most are catch n' release.
The past several years we have seen an increase in catch n' release
and the use of circle hooks.
, with Conservation is extremely important for the future generations
to come.
Bait available: Live herring, iced herring & frozen herring.
Sandworms and Bloodworms will be back in stock Tuesday afternoon.

Stripers have been here for the past
week and a half. We are experiencing a great season with the
Hudson and Rondout being clear of debris and heavy runoffs.
We have herring, shad,
stripers and walleye in numbers.
The local shore fishermen have been doing great at the Eddyville
Falls, all along River Road &
Sleightsburg Spit. The boaters have been running the banks south
of Kingston and now
spreading out into deeper water, north and south of the Rondout
Creek.
Herring has been the prime bait again.
The shore fishermen started using bloods and sands this past weekend
with good results.
We have heard of stripers being landed up to 25 lbs.
The weigh scale is setup outside our office door. It is Certified for the 2009 season.
It is there for anyone to use, anytime.
Bait available: Iced herring, frozen herring,
bloodworms, sandworms and nightcrawlers.
Live herring may be available for Tuesday.
Tournament forms available on-line or at the office.
